About the Artist 艺术家简介
Siqing Lu, born in 1969 in Qingdao, China, began studying violin at age four and was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music's affiliated primary school in 1977. In 1980, he was personally selected by Yehudi Menuhin to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK. In 1987, at just 18, Lu won the Gold Medal at the 34th Paganini International Violin Competition in Italy — the first Asian violinist to receive this honor — launching his international career. He later studied at The Juilliard School under the renowned pedagogue Dorothy DeLay. Lu has performed in the world's most prestigious venues, including the Musikverein in Vienna, Lincoln Center in New York, the Royal Opera House in London, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Celebrated for his refined and lyrical playing, he is especially acclaimed for his interpretations of Chinese classics such as The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto.
